2025 Mycology Seminar Series - February(3 session)

The third session of the 2025 Mycology Seminar Series was held on 26th February 2025, featuring Prof. Marc Stadler. He delivered an insightful lecture on "Novel Bioactive Compounds from Basidiomycota", highlighting the immense potential of these fungi in producing antibiotics and other secondary metabolites.

Prof. Stadler emphasized how modern taxonomic studies continue to reveal new species and genera within Basidiomycota, many of which remain untapped for their bioactive potential. His talk showcased groundbreaking research on rare and tropical species from Kenya, other African regions, and Thailand, leading to the discovery of novel metabolites with unique chemical structures. The session also explored the role of analytical chemistry and biotechnology in advancing fungal metabolite research.
