เมื่อวันที่ 21 เมษายน – 8 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2569 ศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศด้านการวิจัยเชื้อรา (CEFR) มหาวิทยาลัยแม่ฟ้าหลวง ได้จัดสัมมนาระยะยาวตลอด 3 สัปดาห์ โดยได้รับเกียรติจาก Prof. Teun Boekhout

From 21 April to 8 May 2026, the Center of Excellence in Fungal Research (CEFR), Mae Fah Luang University, organized a three-week seminar series featuring Prof. Teun Boekhout, one of the world’s leading authorities in mycology, particularly in yeast taxonomy and biodiversity.

Prof. Teun Boekhout previously served as the Head of the Yeast Research Department at the Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute, Utrecht, The Netherlands. He has played a major role in advancing the understanding of yeast diversity through modern genetic and genomic approaches, particularly in refining yeast taxonomy using molecular data.

The seminar series covered a wide range of important topics related to yeast biology and fungal research, including yeast biodiversity and taxonomy, identification of yeasts using MALDI-TOF MS and DNA barcodes, yeast ecology, yeasts in food and beverages, biotechnology applications, and medically important fungi such as Malassezia and Cryptococcus. Additional topics included antifungal resistance, fungal detection, and septal pores in Basidiomycota.

The program also featured invited lectures from several international experts on specialized topics such as comparative yeast genomics, genomics-based yeast taxonomy, yeast biodiversity in Thailand, soil yeast ecology, food fermentations, biofuels, and antimicrobial peptides.

The seminars were conducted both online and onsite at Mae Fah Luang University and attracted strong participation from students and researchers in mycology and related fields. The event served as an important platform for academic exchange, advanced learning, and strengthening international collaboration in fungal research.
